Online Pre-Registration Directions

Vestavia Hills City Schools is pleased to provide an online tool for parents and students to provide essential information, permissions and acknowledgements. In addition you will have the option of paying online with a credit card or check or paying at the school with a check or cash.

Registration will consist of two-parts: online pre-registration followed by onsite registration at your child’s school.
The link to online pre-registration can be found on the district and school websites beginning July 23, 2014.

Please check the school website for onsite registration dates.

You will need your student’s 6-digit student number to use during the online pre-registration process.  The 6-digit number will serve as your login and can be found on the last report card.

Online Student Directory

This year, we are using a new online directory system (Circlebox).  With your Summer online school pre-registration, you can sign-up by going to:

http://www.circlebox.com/vhpto

In addition to being able to enter your student’s contact information as it will appear in the online and printed directories, some Vestavia schools are utilizing this tool  to let you easily volunteer for PTO committees and to provide important school-specific information.

  • There is no charge to use this service.
  • The information is secure & only available to families of students in the Vestavia School System
  • The directory search functionality will be available once school year begins as homeroom classrooms are assigned.

Here’s how it will work:

  1. If you don’t already have a Circlebox account, you will be prompted to create one. (Some households will already have an account as a member of another organization that already uses Circlebox.)  All students in your household should be set up under your one Circlebox account.
  2. In addition to your student data, you may also list (2) two points of contact (parents/guardians) for each household.  Both contacts (parents/guardians) will be able to access your household account for searches and updates.
  3. In addition to your directory information, please also complete the brief school specific questionnaire and the PTO volunteer form for each student/school where applicable.
  4. Once you enter your student’s information, that record will be “pending” until teacher assignments are entered.  Once the student entry is updated with the homeroom class assignment, (by PTO staff after the 1st day of school) your account will become “active” for Vestavia District-wide search.

Meredith Hanson Named Assistant Superintendent

In a special meeting this morning, the Vestavia Hills Board of Education approved the hiring of Meredith Hanson as the district’s new assistant superintendent.

Hanson, who is currently Executive Director of Human Resources at Auburn City Schools, previously served from 2006 to 2012 as assistant principal at Vestavia Hills Elementary Central. During that time, she assisted in oversight of the school’s 680 students and the hiring of more than 80 school staff members. She holds an Educational Specialist degree from Samford University.

Hanson will replace Sheila Phillips, who last month was named as the district’s new superintendent.

“Meredith’s wealth of knowledge gained from her experience here and outside of our district, coupled with her confident personality, made her the ideal candidate for this position,” Phillips said following this morning’s board meeting.

“I’m extremely humbled by this opportunity and very excited about what I know Mrs. Phillips has in mind for Vestavia Hills,” Hanson said by telephone from Auburn earlier today. “I’m looking forward to coming back and working for the kids, because they’re great students.”

Attention Parents Of Rising 6th Graders

ALL RISING 6TH GRADERS (aged 11 or 12 years) are required to have a booster dose of the Tdap vaccine before entering 6th grade in the fall.  You will need to present a new Alabama Certificate of Immunization to Pizitz Middle School or Liberty Park Middle School before your student will be allowed to attend classes when school starts in August 2014.  See your healthcare provider today!

Those parents who wish to exempt their students from the immunization requirement must obtain an exemption from the Jefferson County Department of Health. A Certificate of Exemption must then be presented to the school in lieu of the Alabama Certificate of Immunization.
