    Gold bows for mailboxes #withwill #samstrong….Show your love, support and Pizitz pride for our 2 students, Will Nailen and Sam Cunningham, who are battling cancer, by purchasing a gold bow (which represents childhood cancer) for your mailbox. These will be on sale for $20 at Western Supermarket on Rocky Ridge this Friday, March 17th from 2-6 and Saturday, March 18th from 9-12. All proceeds go directly to the families!     It’s time for the 4th annual Art in The Hills Youth Art Show.  All students are invited to submit one (1) piece of 2D art no bigger than 11 x 17.  Only one submission per child, and no glass or frames are allowed.  There are cash prizes awarded per grade:  $100 for 1st, $50 for 2nd and $25 for 3rd.  Please go to www.vestaviabeautiful.com/youth-art-show to download the registration form.  Art will be picked up 3/24/17 from Pizitz, and will be on display at the Vestavia Hills Municipal Center through the day of the show, April 15th.

    ATTENTION 8th grade girls

                    VHHS football cheer tryout applications are available in the Pizitz front office.  Clinic dates are March 19-March 21 with tryouts on March 22 and 23.  Applications are due to Melissa Caffey at VHHS by March 15

    The VHHS Color Guard will hold clinic and auditions April 3-April 7 from 3:45 until 5:30 pm in the VHHS old gym. All upcoming freshmen are welcome to audition. There is no previous experience necessary. Information packets can be picked up in the front office or printed from Google Classroom using the following code: 6m7esrp.

    Report cards will be distributed in homeroom on Friday to go home with your students.

     

    The Pizitz Symphonic and Concert Bands competed at Music Performance Assessment last week at Hewitt-Trussville High School.  Both of our bands received superior ratings in all categories on stage and in the sight reading component!

     

    Attention 8th grade parents:  The last day to turn in course cards to Pizitz was March 8th. If you still have not turned yours in, you will need to turn it in to the high school. 

     

    March Parent Awareness Meeting:

    New Topic!!!  Come hear Dr. Amy McCollum from Greenvale Pediatrics lead a discussion about our youth and all types of screens (phones, gaming systems, etc.) - a “Hidden Addiction” that we don’t often think about.  Wednesday, March 15th at 12:00 pm at the Board of Education - Room 202.  As always, you are welcome to bring your lunch and a friend!

    EDP Summer Camp 2017 - Registration will open January 20th, 2017

    Eligibility -      Must be enrolled in the Vestavia Hills School System

    Must have completed Kindergarten -6th grades

    Program Dates - Monday June 5th, 2017 through Friday July 28th, 2017 (closed July 4th)

    Fees - One time Registration Fee - $100 (per family) – Cash or check

    Registration Fees:  Fees include all activities, snacks, supplies and trip fees

    Full Day - $150 per week

    Multi-Child Discount for Full Day Session

    2nd Child -$140 per week (1st child is still $150)

    3rd Child - $130 per week (1st child is still $150, and 2nd child is still $140)

    Make checks payable to Vestavia Hills EDP (regardless of location)

    We will have camps at the following locations:

    •      Central EDP for children who have finished K-2
    •      Liberty Park for children who have completed grades K-6
    •      Pizitz Middle School for children who have completed grades 3-6
    •      Spots will be limited to 75 per site.

    Children will be enrolled on a first come first served basis.

    Morning hours will be academically based.  Students will participate in experiences and field trips that will strengthen academic thought and processes that will avoid any summer slump.  Children will have time for self-discovery, sharing with adults and peer groups, making creative choices, free time and other opportunities for exploration and community outreach.  Nancy English, instructional coach at Liberty Park Elementary, and Celia Stewart, gifted instructor at Cahaba Heights Elementary, will develop the academic portion of our camp.

    You may complete forms and submit with your registration fee of $100 per family to hold your spot.  Registration Fees include the pool at Wald Park, snacks, supplies, and any field trip fees.  Please fill out separate registration forms for multiple children.  

    Early registration is recommended to avoid missing out!
