Due to the growing afternoon congestion on Lime Rock Road the board has graciously given us the funds to construct an access road within our parking lot that will relieve the congestion. In order to maximize its potential all rules and traffic patterns must be followed by everyone.
In the afternoon the first thing you will notice is that you can no longer drive down the center drive, this will be coned off. Instead you will use the new access road to your right. This road will take you to the back of the side parking lot. REMEMBER TO ALWAYS MOVE FORWARD IN THIS LINE WHEN SPACE IS AVAILABLE IN FRONT OF YOU. The route will then turn left at the concession stand and take you back toward the main building. The route will then turn left and run parallel to the building. At this point you will have the band room doors on your right. In front of you there will be a traffic director that will control the converging traffic
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU PAY ATTENTION TO THE DIRECTOR'S COMMANDS AT ALL TIMES. When directed, the cars in the right lane will turn right and stay against the right side curb in front of the school. When directed the cars in the left lane will turn right and immediately move to the left side curb in front of the school. AT NO TIME SHOULD YOU PICK UP YOUR CHILD IN THE CENTER TWO LANES. These lanes are for through traffic only. As you pull to the right or left pickup curb please remember to move forward until the space in front of you is taken up
PLEASE TELL YOUR CHILD NOT TO WAVE YOU DOWN TO STOP EARLY FOR THEM. THEY WILL NEED TO WALK TO WHERE YOU ARE. If you would like your child to meet you somewhere along the route to be picked up that is fine, but you must wait till you reach the traffic director at the intersection before trying to exit. The director will then allow you to enter the center two lanes. If you choose this method remember you cannot hold up traffic in the process.
The use of crosswalks is extremely important. IF YOU ARE PICKING UP YOUR CHILD ON THE LEFT CURB IN FRONT OF THE SCHOOL THEY MUST USE THE CROSSWALK TO GET TO YOU. Please reprimand your child if they run across the road without being directed by the crossing guard. The only safe place to cross is the crosswalk. Do not place your child in harms way by waving them across the street to your car, this is the job of the crossing guard not yours.
Note to parents picking up in the upper lot: You may park in any vacant spot in the upper lot during afternoon carpool; this is only for the upper lot . Please do not park on the curb or behind other vehicles in the upper lot . No one should pick up their child by parking anywhere in the lower lots. You need to follow the normal traffic route if you turn into the lower portion of the school parking lot.
