Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a new virus. The disease causes respiratory illness with symptoms such as a cough, fever, and in more severe cases, difficulty breathing. You can protect yourself by washing your hands frequently, avoiding touching your face, and avoiding close contact (at least 6 feet) with people who are unwell. To aid in reducing the transmission of COVID-19, all public schools in Alabama are closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 academic year. Vestavia Hills City Schools is providing virtual instruction to students through the last day of school (May 21, 2020).
