Dr. Lisa Baker

Lisa Baker, Ph.D., is Professor and Chair of the Department Of Social Work at Samford University. Her research includes work in disaster preparedness, evidence-based education and maternal and child health.

Dr. Baker holds a B.A. and Ph.D. from University of Georgia and a M.S.W. from Florida International University. She has more than 17 years of experience in higher education and clinical social work and is a disaster mental health responder. Her service activities include working with Habitat for Humanity, Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama and serving as President of the National Association of Perinatal Social Workers.

Lisa and her husband, Mark, have two daughters in Vestavia Hills City Schools. The family attends church at St. Peter the Apostle.
