 Louis Pizitz Middle SchoolAnnouncements Parents    Report cards will be issued during homeroom TODAY, January 11th.  VHHS Students from RISE (formally Relay for Life) will be at the Red, White, and Blue Bash Friday selling New RISE T-shirts and luminaries. ALL proceeds will stay LOCAL and will be donated to the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center. Donations at the door will also be collected. T-shirts are $20 each and luminaries are $5 each. Luminaries can be purchased in honor of someone who has battled cancer, is currently battling cancer, or as a remembrance of someone who has battled this horrible disease. In April, each luminary will be placed around the VHHS track and lit in honor of each person. There will be a Survivor Walk and a lighting ceremony. If you are unable to attend the RWB bash and want to purchase a t-shirt or luminary or give a donation, send envelope to the office with VHHS RISE on it.Just a reminder, due to liability concerns, we cannot accept permission by phone, fax, or email for someone to check out your student.  If your student will be checked out by someone NOT on his/her checkout list, please send a SIGNED note with your student giving permission.
 Procedures for Pre-Excused absences forms to request approval for a planned absence are available on our website and in the front office.  (On the Pizitz website, go to "Resources" and under "Parent", you will find "Pre-excused absence form".)  Students1/11 (Fri) - Report Cards issued during homerooms

                - Boys' BB vs Hewitt - 7th @ 5:00; 8th @ 6:15 pm
                - Red, White, and Blue Bash Party 7:30-9:00 (after Boys' BB games) The Red, White, and Blue Bash is TODAY. Wristbands are $8 if you buy during lunch starting Tuesday, Jan 8 and will be $10 at the door. Come out and watch the Boys’ basketball team play Hewitt-Trussville and then enjoy the party after the game. Tip off times are 7th grade at 5:00 and 8th grade at 6:15 and the party will be 7:30-9:00 pm. Come out and support your Pirates!If you would like to purchase a "Kindness" t-shirt, please see Mrs. Smith in the library for an order form or download the form from the SGA website HERE. Each shirt is $20 and all proceeds go to Children's Hospital. Order forms and payment are due to Mrs. Smith by Wednesday, February 13.An after school Art Club will be starting on Jan.28 from 3:15-4:30. We will have 11 sessions-all on Mondays- and conclude on April 22. The students will complete projects in drawing, painting, printmaking, crafts, and clay. Please email Mr. Gibson at to sign up. Extracurricular Congrats to the 7th grade Girls’ Basketball team for its win over Hewitt yesterday!All students joining the girl’s golf team need to stop by Coach Joy’s room Monday (1/14) or Tuesday (1/15) to pick up information about the golf season.Congratulations to the Indoor Track & Field team for their performance at Thursday’s meet. 33 athletes qualified to compete in the Middle School Championship on Jan. 24.  The following athletes won top 3 awards:
    Houston Owen - 2nd in the 400m dash
    Will Jordan - 3rd in the 1600m run
    John Martin Richter - 3rd in Pole Vault
Your Track & Field team will compete again next Thursday at the CrossPlex at 4PM.
