Board of Education Selects Two Superintendent Candidates for Further Consideration
January 16, 2018 -- The Vestavia Hills Board of Education on Tuesday narrowed its field of superintendent candidates from four to two.
In a special called meeting Tuesday morning, the Board selected Gardendale City Schools Superintendent Patrick Martin, Ph.D., and Sylacauga City Schools Superintendent Todd Freeman, Ed.D., for further consideration. Both candidates were interviewed earlier in January as part of the Board’s consideration of the top four finalists from a field of 32 applicants.
The Board’s next steps in consideration of Drs. Martin and Freeman will include site visits to both candidates’ current and former school communities, reference checks, and additional conversations with the candidates themselves, Board of Education President Nancy Corona said today.
When the Board is ready to name its next superintendent, it will do so in an open meeting, Corona said.
Videos of the two remaining finalists' public interviews may be viewed here.
