Superintendent's Rezoning Recommendation

July 9, 2018

As you know, the Board of Education and I have been reviewing several rezoning options for the 2019-2020 school year following the adoption of the new K-5 elementary school structure and purchase of Gresham Elementary School.

During the month of June, all stakeholders were invited to provide feedback on the three rezoning options through an online survey and two community forums. We received more than 430 comments through the survey as well as numerous emails, calls, and comments. The feedback you provided was very helpful to me throughout this process.

I will present my recommendation for 2019-2020 elementary rezoning to the Board of Education at a called meeting tomorrow. You may view a video outlining my recommendation below.

We are fortunate to live in a community where the ideal of an excellent education is the standard. Every member of the Vestavia Hills City Schools team is committed to providing a wonderful and engaging experience where all of our students can learn without limits no matter which school they attend.

I look forward to sharing with you the plans for our system moving forward as we prepare for the coming school year and the next.

Sincerely,

Todd Freeman, Ed.D.
Superintendent
