March 14, 2020

Vestavia Hills City Schools has been in regular communication with local and state public health and education officials regarding the coronavirus situation. Based on these conversations, to ensure the safety of all students and employees, Vestavia Hills City Schools will close, beginning Monday, March 16. This includes the closure of all school facilities and cancellation of all school-related activities. Students and employees will not report to their schools next week. Schools will remain closed until Monday, April 6.

We have prepared informational resources for parents and students regarding our plans while schools are closed. These resources will be released on Monday, March 16. This communication will include information on breakfast and lunch service for students who need it, the process for preparing our facilities for the return of staff and students, and personal hygiene recommendations to prepare for the return to school.

We encourage you to continue following the guidance of public health officials during the closure, and monitor your phone, email, and the Vestavia Hills City Schools website for future messages from the school system. We will continue to keep you updated throughout the closure.
