Vestavia Hills Board of Education approves special pay supplement for school employees
November 17, 2020 -- The Vestavia Hills Board of Education this morning voted to express its appreciation to faculty and staff with a special pay supplement.
In a called meeting, the Board voted unanimously to approve a one-time, $400 supplement for all full-time employees in the school system.
The measure comes during “Thank Alabama Teachers Week,” which Gov. Kay Ivey proclaimed to express appreciation for public education faculty, support staff, and school administrators.
Board members in this morning’s meeting affirmed the extraordinary work done by VHCS faculty and staff throughout 2020 as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. In a message to employees, Board of Education president Lisa Baker, Ph.D., said she and the Board members were “grateful for your perseverance through the challenges 2020 has brought us.
“You showed up and stepped up; and without you, the school year would not have been possible,” Baker said.
VHCS employees will receive their supplemental payments in December.
