Vestavia Hills High School football coach Sean Calhoun announces resignation

January 5, 2022 -- Vestavia Hills High School head football coach Sean Calhoun met with team players and staff this morning to announce his departure from the program.

Calhoun was hired by the Vestavia Hills Board of Education in January 2021 and led the Rebels to a 4-6 record in the 2021 season.

Following the announcement of Calhoun’s resignation, Vestavia Hills City Schools superintendent Todd Freeman, Ed.D., issued this statement:

“Coach Calhoun did a tremendous job as the head football coach at Vestavia Hills High School. I am appreciative to him and his wife, Kellie, for investing in the lives of our students and athletes over this past year. We wish Coach Calhoun and his family all the best.”

Vestavia Hills City Schools will begin the search for a new football coach immediately. Interested applicants may contact Vestavia Hills City Schools Athletics Director Myra Miles.

Calhoun’s last official day at Vestavia Hills High School is Tuesday, Feb. 1.
