Vestavia Hills High School SGA raises thousands during fall charity events

Submitted by the Vestavia Hills High School SGA

January 7, 2022 -- VHHS SGA is proud to share our accomplishments from Fall 2021. Although there were continued challenges and roadblocks that the VHHS SGA and student body worked to overcome, the students worked to make this past fall memorable.

Many activities were reinstated for our students. We once again were able to hold the PowderPuff football game in the fall as a part of Homecoming week festivities. More than 360 students registered to participate in the games! Students were able to get together to build and display class signs this year for our community and students to see on Homecoming day. We regularly held outdoor football pep rallies for students at the Main Campus! Our spirit team leaders, sponsors, and directors worked together to make this happen for our kids. Faculty members showed their dedication to our students and worked together to provide our students the best!

Personally, our reward is knowing these efforts have lasting effects. All the hard work and planning will provide supplies, camp attendance, and needs for ill children and their families. Our fall events, fundraisers, homecoming king, and class competitions resulted in the VHHS SGA providing Children's Harbor with $75,075 to use for children with serious illnesses.

Finally, ending the semester, the SGA Canned Food Drive campaign resulted in 20,007 cans and non-perishable goods being divided between Vestavia Hills United Methodist Food Bank and Love In Action Ministries!

We are proud of our students for their work in another challenging year.
