Vestavia Hills Board of Education names principal for Vestavia Hills Elementary Cahaba Heights

Lauren DressbackApril 25, 2022 — The Vestavia Hills Board of Education today named a principal for Vestavia Hills Elementary Cahaba Heights.

In a regularly scheduled meeting this afternoon, the board approved Lauren Dressback to serve as principal in the 2022-23 school year. She has been serving as the school’s interim principal since January. 

Dressback is a familiar face to many Vestavia Hills families. She is a 1997 graduate of Vestavia Hills High School and has spent 20 years working in education.

Dressback brings into the role prior experience as an assistant principal at Liberty Park Middle School and Vestavia Hills High School. She taught social studies for 11 years at VHHS prior to becoming an administrator. Dressback also taught in the Homewood and Mountain Brook school systems before returning to her alma mater.

Dressback holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Samford University, a master’s degree in secondary education from the University of Montevallo, and educational leadership certification from Samford University.

Reached by phone today, Dressback said she was “humbled and thrilled” to remain at Cahaba Heights.

“This is a close-knit, special community where the students are invested and the teachers are truly amazing at what they do. I’m so honored to make this my home and continue working with the Cahaba Heights family,” Dressback said.
