VHCS launches Neighborhood Bridges program

May 11, 2022 -- We are pleased to announce a new partnership between Vestavia Hills City Schools and Neighborhood Bridges, a nonprofit organization which drives awareness and support for student and family needs in our school community.

Neighborhood Bridges works by involving VHCS teachers, counselors, and administrators in the work of identifying student needs and sharing those with the community through the Neighborhood Bridges website. Needs may include a wide range of essentials such as school supplies, clothing, household needs such as beds or groceries, and more. The identity of the students and their families remains anonymous throughout the process.

When a need is posted, individuals who have subscribed to the Neighborhood Bridges website will receive a notification email and social media posts. Anyone who wishes to fill the need may visit the website and click “I can help.” They are then provided with drop-off instructions, and school officials will ensure the donations reach the student in need.

Here’s how you can help:

  • Visit and subscribe to the Neighborhood Bridges Vestavia Hills website by clicking here.
  • Follow Neighborhood Bridges Vestavia Hills on Facebook.
  • Share this information with family and friends.
  • If your student has a need, please contact your school’s counselor or principal to get started.

Thank you for your support in this new effort to meet the needs of our students. If you have questions about this program, please contact VHCS Director of Student Services Jennifer Bailey at baileyjg@vestavia.k12.al.us, or email Neighborhood Bridges at vestaviahills@neighborhoodbridges.org.
